Using the Library
The Sainsbury Research Unit Library supports the research and teaching needs of the Sainsbury Research Unit (SRU) and the University. Whilst borrowing facilities are limited to UEA registered users, members of the public are also very welcome to visit and browse the collection.
Borrowing
All UEA staff and students are registered to use the SRU Library. Borrowing allowances and loan lengths depend on the user’s status within UEA; a summary is shown below. All SRU loans are in addition to your UEA Main Library allowance.
Undergraduates and Sainsbury Centre guides: 10 books
Research postgraduates and staff: 30 books
Taught masters and diploma students: 20 books
Registered external researchers: 5 books
Normal Loan books are loaned for one week and auto-renew unless they are requested by another user. Books auto-renew for the entirety of the vacation when term ends.
All users can borrow Short Loan items for 3 days (plus over a weekend or other closed day if applicable). Short Loan items will auto-renew once, after which they must be returned.
If a book has been requested, an email will be on the due date to inform you that it has not been renewed and needs to be returned. Please return items promptly if they are requested by other users to ensure fair access to library materials. The SRU library does not charge fines for overdue items.
External users
External researchers wishing to join the SCONUL Access scheme or purchase an external UEA Library Membership will need to register with the Main UEA Library in the first instance which will then entitle borrowing from the SRU Library.
A selection of online resources is available to external researchers and walk-in users. What is available is dependent on the suppliers’ license, please speak to library staff for advice on accessing these resources.
